How You Can Help

The volunteer fundraising advocate programme is a direct response to an overwhelming amount of interest and enquiries from family members who want to know how they can ‘give back’ help & support SFMI, and become more involved with the organisation. We have a variety of ways you can become involved; something to suit all time, commitment and ability levels. For example, join our Speakers Bureau for families willing to speak about their personal experience and raise awareness of the needs of families and whanau who support someone affected by mental illness. Perhaps you would like to speak at community organisations such as Lions or Rotary, or maybe host functions for your own social networks or facilitate meetings between your networks and SFMI Auckland.

If speaking in public is not your favourite thing, then you could support us just by sourcing items to be raffl ed or auctioned at fundraising events. Perhaps you would even like to be involved by organising your own fundraising event.

These are just a few ways in which you can become involved and help support the great work that SFMI Auckland continues to do. SFMI are passionate about the work we do in mental health and in particular our involvement with the families that come into our service. Here at SFMI we know that you share in the passion for that work, in raising awareness of the need to support families, to reduce stigma and challenge discrimination. What better way to express
that passion and help fi ght stigma and challenge current social beliefs around mental illness than to join our Volunteer Fundraising Advocate program!
